I am looking at big power tools at the moment. I have a home workshop and want to kit it out with some decent equipment. I have bought many different things over the years and they never seem to last that long, be that strong or do everything that I want them to. It is annoying but it is, probably because I have always bought cheap things, either because I thought that they were a good bargain or because I could not afford anything else. Now, I realise that was not a good thing to do and I need to buy something much better. I am lucky. I am in a position where I can go out and buy a lovely new powermatic planer and some Jet woodworking tools. I think that even if I had not had the money, I would have saved up as I now realise that it is better to spend more money and get something of a good quality that lasts. My neighbour has tools that he has inherited form his father and they still work better than the ones that I have had in the past, even when they were new. I was lucky enough to be able to use them the other week and this is what has changed my way of thinking, to realising that quality is better than cheap.
