I love playing golf for a couple of reasons. First, it’s a lot of fun and it’s extremely challenging. It may seem like it’s easy to hit a ball that’s just sitting there not moving at all, but it’s not. And a round of golf with friends is just about as good a time as you can have. Four hours of being outside in a beautiful place is just so much fun.
The second reason I love playing golf is it’s one place I can show off my personality a little be with what I wear. See, by day I’m a criminal defense attorney. This means that most of my day is spend wearing relatively dark suits, white shirts, and at best only mildly provocative ties. The golf course gives me an avenue for letting my hair down a little from a fashion standpoint.
But, if you’re not careful, your attempt to be fashionable can fall flat on it’s face. So I’ve got a few tips for finding the perfect men’s plaid golf pants, which I think are one the best ways you can express yourself.
1. Stay Away From Pleats
Pleats were really cool in golf pants in 1985. Today, though, they just don’t look right. They make your pants look billowy and huge, kind of like a sail on a boat. Fashion today calls for form fitting clothes that accentuate your body. So stay away from pleats. Flat front pants only.
2. Get a Size that Fits
There is nothing worse than seeing someone walk around a golf course with pants that are too big, too small, too long, or too short, so take the time to find some that fit right. If you don’t have anyone that can go with you to pick them out, ask the person at the store how they look – and that’s right, you have to try them on!
3. Be As Loud as You Want, But Not Too Loud
When buying plaid golf pants there is a fine line between John Daly and Ian Poulter, and if you watch any golf, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s a lot of fun to wear something you wouldn’t normally wear out on the street, but there’s a limit to how loud your plaid golf pants should be. And only your own personality can dictate that.
